NHL EHM Gold Review
NHL EHM has gone gold, and as a result the Gold demo has also slipped onto the internet, so it's time to actually pen down some thoughts and reactions to what will be the final version. This is a review of the game not as an average gamer, but as someone who has played the original freeware version of EHM to death, is in 2 online EHM leagues, and frequents both the SI and FHockey forums for EHM. Bear this in mind while reading: if you're not a fan of sports management sims you might end up lost.

Yahoo Renews War with 3rd-Party IM Clients
I you use an IM client like Gaim or Trillian, you may have noticed that Yahoo is once again blocking their instant messenger service for everything outside of their own client.
Broadbandreports.com has a good blurb and thread on the the fiasco, though we've yet to see reaction from other sites.
AIM tried this a while back and failed spectacularly after they realized that blocking 3rd-party clients would not only not stop people from using those clients, but would also not encourage people to use the "official" clients and thus they rapidly began to lose their userbase.
I love Yahoo's mail service (and have for years) and I use their MyYahoo! frontpage now as my startup, but their IM is a joke and I think I'm done messing around with them. Trillian is so far superior to any single IM client that I can't begin to describe it, and for them to shut out outsiders is folly.
What are your thoughts on IM services closing their protocols to 3rd-party clients? Voice your opinion below...

From Bad to Worse.
The Beastie Boys and Velvet Revolver have been in the news a lot lately, and for all the wrong reasons. It seems that the RIAA's latest efforts to curb piracy are not only failing to stop anything, but also rendering the CD useless in many legitimate playback devices.
This storm has been building for some time, and most of us are plenty familiar with it by now. Here's the latest update on the front of Your Rights vs Big Business.

Nickelback Conspiracy!!!
This site claims to have found audio proof to blow the lid off Nickleback's conspiracy to make the same song over and over again.
OK so it's not a conspiracy. The second song "Someday" is heavily manipulated in terms of tempo, pitch, and whatnot to make it happen, though maybe I just have ear for that and it's only obvious to me. And it really isn't all the same, there are some noticable differences where the two don't blend very well.
However, I think it sounds VERY cool myself, as as John pointed out there needs to be a high-quality MP3 of this made to float around. The breakdown section in both songs is absolutely AMAZING with how it blends, and just all-around it's cool to listen to.
Now I'm wondering if I could blend some songs together myself and get this effect...

Because You're Bored
That's why you check this site. You want something new and different. Articles to read, flash movies to watch. Pretty widgets to click on. We'll I've collected some stuff while I wasn't updating.
CurveBall is a evil EVIL game that took over #spork briefly. Think 3D Pong where you can curve the ball.
Esso has a sit with a couple games up, the best of which is the Hockey Skills Competition. It's hard though, so beware.
Bowman can best be summed up as "Scorched Earth or Worms meets Archery" and is way more-addictive than you'd expect.
I had a couple other flash games or animations but regrettably they seem to be down at the moment.
Enjoy.

Sport of Kings
I've always enjoyed horse racing. I grew up with two parents who loved the sport, and much like the way it's mandatory everything stops when hockey is on so it was with important horse races. Even now when it comes time for the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, or Belmont Stakes to run everything halts to watch a couple minutes of beautiful animals racing.

Update
Sorry for lack of updates. A myriad of things have caused this.
For one, the NHL EHM beta demo has been released, and I've been filing bug reports and testing like mad. Actually, the one listed on the site right now is a fully functional 6-month demo -- but I also have the initial one-year demo with only British Leagues and NHL playable. But I seem to be involved with 20-billion things involving the original EHM freeware and the upcoming NHL EHM.
We'll slowly start getting some new stuff on here, don't fret.
