A Potpourri of Items
(Prìomh Potpourri will be entries involving not one topic in particular, but several topics that don't warrant their own posts necessarily, but still have some useful and interesting content nonetheless)
This time around we have an article about Cheers & Sports, an article on the Music Industry in most recent setback north of the St. Lawrence Seaway, a new Pentagon weapon that may be the most-inhumane weapon I've ever seen or heard of, and more.

Another Quick Update.
Sorry for the inertness of the site. I've had several other things going on which should make life much easier in the longrun.
First off, I switched over finally to DSL, and am working some of the kinks out from that. It's maybe going to involve me repulling some Cat5 and redoing some ends, so as you can imagine I'm absolutely thrilled about that. But it needs to be done because while LAN stuff and internet stuff seems to work fine, I can't login as admin to the router -- and THAT folks, is a problem.
Secondly, I've delved into a couple other things, including fiddling with the SpamAssassin alpha for Outlook for two of my side POP accounts. I'm mostly confused with it, but that's ok I guess, I'll figure out the specifics of it eventually. I'm not using it for anything important.
That's all for now. Expect more actual updates of content this week now that some of the madness has receded.

It is currently being promoted that starting on April 11th, 9pm/8pm Central, The History Channel will beginning airing "Band of Brothers", sponsored by the US Army.
I don't think I need to tell you how important and good this is.
Make a note and watch.

Sports & Business
(aka "If Sports Wants to Be a Business, Then Start Operating Like One")
An interesting conversation recently erupted on the HockeyTradeRumors.com forums in regards to sports (specifically the NHL) as a business. One of the hot topics currently is "How to fix hockey", as if it somehow needs fixing in comparison to the other major sports. While I was initially sucked into this idea like so many others, I eventually came to an obvious conclusion that has somehow escaped us all. I have to give credit to the always-intelligent and enlightening defenestrate and cwthrash for putting me on the right train of thought in this matter.
If sports wants so badly to be a business, then they'd best start operating like one.

A Bug/Snag Fixed...
The site should look better in 800x600 mode now. There was a glitch that would force the right-hand column to the bottom of the page on some systems in 800x600 (primarily IE-based), because of the logo. The logo has been resized by a bit and now it should look like a proper two-column site in 800x600. Expect a new logo soon once I get things straightened out anyways.
The only browsers I've tested this site with so far are IE 6, Opera 7, and Firebird 0.7. If anyone notes anything of interest while viewing in a different browser let me know. At any rate it should look fine now from 800x600 on up. And if you're viewing in 640x480, well... sorry but that era has long since passed.
Anyone who's seen this site several times already may have noticed that elements on the front page have already been slowly changing. This is because I continue to slowly plug away at pulling elements I don't want/need, as well as making room for other extra elements I *do* want. Once that's done expect the Comments section to be next up for modification, mainly formatting and aesthetics-related issues.
Finally, I haven't been able to get the RSS feed to work for me for some strange reason. Then again I'm doing it via TrillianPro 2 and several other RSS feeds won't seem to work with it either, so... if anyone else can confirm that the RSS actually does work, please let me know.
That's all for now, thanks guys and grrls.
